VIT Entrance on April 21

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, Tamil Nadu, has invited application for the entrance examination for admission to the B.Tech Programmes, offered at the Institute.
Admission to the Programmes will be based on Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) to be held on 21st April 2012 (Saturday), in 112 cities as per the list of Test Cities (with their corresponding codes given) at APPENDIX- III of the Information Brochure available at www.vit.ac.in/admissions/viteee2012/VITEEE_Brochure_2012.pdf
B.Tech. Programmes offered at Vellore Campus include (i) Bioinformatics (ii) Bio-Medical Engineering (iii) Biotechnology (iv) Civil Engineering (v) Computer Science and Engineering (vi) Electronics and Communication Engineering (vii) Electrical and Electronics Engineering (viii) Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (ix) Information Technology(x) Mechanical Engineering (xi) Mechanical (Specialization in Automotive Engineering ) (xii) Mechanical (Specialization in Chemical Process Engg. )
B. Tech. Programmes offered at Chennai Campus are (i) Civil Engineering (ii) Computer Science and Engineering (iii) Electronics and Communication Engineering (iv) Electrical and Electronics Engineering and (v) Mechanical Engineering.
Applicant should be a Resident/Non Resident Indian National and should have been born on or after 1st July 1990 and should have either completed or shall be appearing in 2012, in any one of the following qualifying examinations listed below.
(i) The final examination of the 10+2 system of Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the State Board; Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi); The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE, New Delhi)
(ii)Intermediate or Two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University
(iii)High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva
(iv)General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/ Cambridge/ Srilanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
Applicant should also have secured an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate). The average marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology (PCM / PCB) in +2 (or its equivalent) put together should be 50% for applicants belonging to SC/ST categories and for those hailing from Jammu and Kashmir and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. They have to submit the relevant certificate prescribed in the Information Brochure.
In case the marks statement is not produced by candidates at the time of admission, the decision of the Management regarding his / her eligibility and admission to the programme shall be final. Only those who have studied in Regular, Full time and Formal Education are eligible to apply.
VIT Engineering Entrance Examination will be held from 2.30 pm to 5 p.m [IST] on 21st April 2012 (Saturday). The question paper which will be in English only will have only objective type questions and will contain 4 parts, Physics (Part I), Chemistry (Part II), Mathematics (Part III) and Biology (Part IV). Each part will have 40 questions with each question carrying one mark. Each question will be followed by 4 alternative answers.
Candidate will have to choose the correct answer and shade against the appropriate choice in the OMR response sheet provided, strictly adhering to the instructions. There will not be negative marks for wrong answers.Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics candidates shall attempt Parts I, II & III. Physics, Chemistry and Biology candidates shall attempt Parts I, II & IV. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology candidates can attempt either Part-I, II, III or Part-I, II, IV as per their choice. Candidates attempting Parts-I, II & III are eligible for all the 13 Programmes offered.
Candidates attempting Parts I, II & IV are eligible for Bioinformatics, Bio-Medical Engineering and Biotechnology Programmes only. A candidate has to attempt any three parts only as indicated above. If a candidate attempts all the four parts, only the first three parts will be valued. The answered Part IV will not be considered for valuation.
All questions will mostly be from the State Board of Higher Secondary Education and the CBSE syllabus only. The syllabus for the Entrance Examination is given in APPENDIX-IV of the Information Brochure. Prospectus and Information Brochure for B.Tech Programme, along with the necessary enclosures which include the Application Form and a printed self-addressed envelope, can be obtained against payment of Rs.950/- in cash, from various post offices as given at www.vit.ac.in/admissions/viteee2012/plist.asp
Candidates can also obtain the application form in person from the VIT University at Vellore or VIT University at Chennai or from the Administrative Office, New No. 6, (Old No. W-73), Second Street (Opposite Towers Club), Anna Nagar, Chennai-600 040 (Phone: 044-42016555, 65480555, Fax: 044-26222555), by submitting a Demand Draft for Rs. 950/- drawn in favour of ‘VIT University’, payable at Vellore.
Candidates may obtain the application form through post from the ‘Admissions Officer’, VIT University, Vellore-632014’,by sending a Demand Draft for Rs.950/-, drawn in favour of ‘VIT University’, payable at Vellore, with name, Mobile Number and address of applicant written on the reverse of the DD, along with a covering letter indicating the complete postal address, requesting for application form. On receipt of the DD, the application form with the enclosures will be sent by post. The postal charges will be borne by the Institute..
Candidates can also apply online at www.vit.ac.in/admissions. Online applicants need pay Rs.900/- only as fee. The application form duly completed, refolded only along the original fold and inserted in the envelope provided, with the correct Test City Code entered on the envelope and checklist ticked, should reach the office by Registered Post/Speed Post in the self-addressed envelope provided, on or before February 29, 2012.
