NATA Registration commences


The Registration for the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA), the Aptitude test required for admissions to 1st year B.Arch at all Institutes/Schools/Colleges of Architecture in India (including Government, Govt-aided, Private Unaided, University Depts., Deemed Universities, etc.), offering B Arch, has commenced at the different Test Centre, as per the information given at http://www.nata.in/www/Home.aspx
The Test is aimed at measuring the aptitude of the applicant for Architecture and will measure the drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability, related to Architecture. NATA scores are used by admitting authorities in addition to the marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination for assessing the merit of applicants’ for admission to the B Arch Course.
NATA is offered at designated Test Centers located at Colleges /Schools of Architecture in India. Updated list of Test centers is available athttp://www.nata.in/www/TestCenters.aspx  
Those intending to take NATA have to first register for the same. The NATA Pre-Registration form is available at http://www.nata.in/www/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=gusiFvUjbzU%3d&tabid=41&mid=382.
Applicants can fill up the form online, take a print out of the same and take it to the identified test centre for registration. Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre- Registration forms can also be obtained from Test Centers.
NATA Test Fees is Rs. 800/- which is to be paid at the time of Registration by way of a Demand Draft/ Postal Order/Banker’s Cheque, drawn in favour of ‘Council of Architecture’, payable at New Delhi. The DD, along with Pre-registration form and other supporting documents is to be submitted at the Test center at the time of Registration.
Candidate has to carry the documents listed below when reporting for registration.
(i) Attested copy of the Mark list of Class X or equivalent examination 
(ii) One recent passport size colour photograph, to be pasted on the registration form
(iii) Attested copy of any valid document of identification bearing photograph and signature of the candidate
(iv) Test fees in the form of Demand Draft taken in favour of ‘Council of Architecture’, payable at New Delhi
Applicant should also have a valid email address. In case the applicant does not have one, he/she may open an email account. The applicant will have to declare to the Test center coordinator whether the applicant is taking NATA exam for the first time or has already taken it earlier.
On submission of the filled up Pre- Registration form along with the necessary documents and fee; the applicant will get a Receipt cum Appointment Voucher with date and time, from the Test Center. The Receipt cum Appointment voucher should be checked for the correctness of the entries.  The Appointment voucher will also show the Candidate ID, Appointment Number and Exam Key. The Appointment Number and Exam Key are to be used by the candidate to log in at the time of the test. There are two counterfoils on the appointment voucher. The applicant has to sign the counterfoil in presence of the Hall supervisor at the time of the test, and hand over the same to him / her. Candidates should not sign the counterfoil in advance. The candidate will be required to sign the Test Center attendance register before and after the test session and any time the candidate leaves or enter the testing room. Appointment once scheduled cannot be cancelled or rescheduled. NATA test fees will not be refunded.
Reporting for NATA: Applicant should report for the test, at least 30 minutes, before scheduled time of the test.  along with an acceptable and valid Identification Document ID with signature, details of which are mentioned on the receipt cum appointment voucher, and Appointment voucher for being admitted to a Test Center.
Candidates should bring (i) Official identification document mentioned on the receipt cum appointment voucher (details can be had from the Brochure).
(ii) The receipt cum appointment voucher issued to the candidate at the time of registration. 
(iii) Three or four sharpened soft-lead (2B & HB) pencils and a good eraser (Pencils and erasers will not be supplied at the Test Center.) Mechanical pencils are not permitted.
(iv) Set of colours (Water/ Poster colours, crayons, pastels) with appropriate instruments (Brushes, dish, etc.)
(v) Geometry instrument box.
(vi) Blue ink pen / Blue ink ball point pen.
Test: NATA has two parts, a paper based Drawing Test of two hours duration and a Computer based online Aesthetic Sensitivity Test of one hour. (Practice Tests are usually made available at the NATA website).
In the Drawing Test, the candidate has to attempt two questions. One of the questions has two sub questions. The drawing aptitude is judged on 
(i) the ability to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in visually appealing manner.
(ii) Visualising and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on surroundings.
(iii) Sense of perspective drawing.
(iv) Combining and composing given three dimensional elements to form a building or structural form.
(v) Creating interesting two dimensional composition using given shapes and forms.
(vi) Creating visual harmony using colours in given composition.
(vii) Understanding of scale and proportions.
(viii) Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences.
Candidate should attempt the question on the drawing paper supplied by the test center, on the side where barcode is printed. The Appointment number, Candidate ID and test center stamp with supervisor’s signature should be on the reverse side of the paper. At the conclusion of the test the candidate should return the Answer sheet (drawing paper) and question paper to the test supervisor.
The drawing paper will be examined by the designated examiners over the internet in absence of the candidate and marks will be uploaded to NATA server. The Aesthetic Sensitivity Test is a computer based test where candidate has to answer 40 multiple choice questions.
The aesthetic sensitivity test measures perception, imagination and observation, creativity and communication along with architectural awareness and comprises of
(i) Visualising three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings
(ii) Visualising different sides of three dimensional objects
(iii) Identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities
(iv) Analytical reasoning
(v) Mental Ability
(vi) Imaginative comprehension and expression
(vii) Architectural awareness.
The candidate’s score will depend on his / her performance on the questions given and on the number of questions answered in the time allotted. There is no Negative marking in this test.
The Computer based test will be given after completing the Paper based test. There is an optional 10-minute break after the Drawing section. Candidates will be provided with rough paper.  The candidate is not permitted to take his/ her own rough paper for the test.
If the candidate needs to leave his / her seat at any time, he / she must raise his / her hand for permission; timing of the section will not stop. If at any time during the test the candidate has a problem with his / her computer, or for any reason needs the attention of the administrator, the candidate shall raise his/ her hand.
When the test gets disrupted because of failure of internet connectivity or electricity supply failure, candidate can resume the test from the point of disruption onwards if resumed within four hours. In case disruption lasts for more than four hours the candidate may have to give entire test again.
Score card / Mark list: The score cards of NATA will be available on NATA website in e-format. Usually, the score cards will be posted at the website, on the fourth working day after the test. The candidate, after fourth day may check his/her score directly from website giving his / her candidate ID. Print out of such score card will be only for reference and information. Candidates may use the print out of this score card while applying for the admission. Original score card will be retrieved by the admission authority directly from NATA server.
Candidate’s scores are retained for two years following the testing year in which the candidate tested.
NATA can be given as many number of times as desired by the candidate. Test fees have to be paid in full for every attempt. The mark list will show the average of marks scored by the candidate in the last attempt and previous valid score. Candidates should not register for repeat attempt unless the score card for previous attempt is received. Candidate, while seeking the repeat test appointment must inform the test center of the previous attempts and present copy of previous Appointment voucher/ Score card. If any candidate is found registering afresh despite of earlier appearance for NATA he/ she will forfeit his candidature, his all previous scores will be cancelled and he/she will be barred from appearing for NATA again.
NATA can be given on any working day till 25th September every year at designated Test Centers. However, some test centers may stop conducting tests even before this date. Candidates may check the dates of examination with the center concerned.
Applying to institutions for admission: As per COA rules, a candidate applying to any School /College of Architecture in India should have achieved 40% score in the total NATA score (80/200), for consideration of admission into first year B.Arch. After receiving score card / Mark list and HSC / Class XII results, the candidate may apply for admission to any of the participating institutions as per the time schedule specified by the appropriate admission authority, along with all the documents desired by it.

Pilot Training at Indira Gandhi Akademi

Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA), Fursatganj Airfield, Raebareli District, Uttar Pradesh-229 302, an autonomous Body under the Ministry of Civil Aviation Government of India, has invited applications for admission to the Ab-initio to CPL (Commercial Pilot License) Course commencing in September, 2011, designed to impart Ground and flying training for issue of CPL with Multi-engine endorsement and Instrument Rating (IR) on Multi-engine Aircraft.
Course Training which extends for 15 months (which may get extended), has 125 seats of which 63 are under General category. There are 19 seats reserved for SC, 9 for ST and 34 for OBC.
Applicant should have Passed 10 + 2 or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics & English as main subjects. Applicants of the General category should have passed English at 10+2 level and should have scored a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate in Mathematics & Physics. General candidates possessing higher qualification with Mathematics and Physics as subjects should have passed English in 10+2 level and should have scored a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in Mathematics & Physics at 10+2.
SC/ST/OBC applicants should have passed in English at 10+2 level and should have scored a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in Mathematics & Physics at 10+2. Minimum age limit for above course is 17 years at the time of joining the course.
Selection: The Selection procedure consists of Written Test, Pilot Aptitude Test , Viva and Interview.
Written Test: The Written Test will be held at (i) Delhi (ii) Hyderabad (iii) Kolkatta (iv) Lucknow and (v) Mumbai from 10:00 hrs on 19th June, 2011 (Sunday). Applicants may give option for two centers, specifying the first and second choice. The test will have questions from General English, Mathematics, Physics & Reasoning and will be objective type of the 10+2 level.
A minimum of 375 candidates will be short listed after written examination in the order of merit in the Written Test. The cutoff marks for SC/ST/OBC candidates will be 5% less than the marks secured by the last candidate in the General category. In case SC/ST and OBC candidates do not qualify even after 5% relaxation in the Entrance Written test, the seats identified for them would be de-reserved for General Category.
Intimation regarding examination centre will be sent by Courier/ Post directly to the candidates. IGRUA office can be contacted on telephone, if the same is not received by 12th June 2011. Information regarding Roll number and examination center will also be available on IGRUA website also by 4th June 2011.
Pilot Aptitude Test: This test will be conducted at Delhi from4th July 2011, for candidates from Delhi and neighboring states. For other candidates, the test will be held at IGRUA, Raebareli from 2nd August, 2011. The minimum qualifying marks for Pilot Aptitude Test is 70%. No relaxation in marks will be given for SC/ST/OBC Candidates in Pilot Aptitude Test.
Result of Written Test and schedule of Pilot Aptitude Test/ Interviews will be available at 
http://www.igrua.gov.in/   after 27th June 2011.
Interview/Viva/Psychometric: Interview and viva for all successful candidates in Pilot Aptitude Test will be conducted at IGRUA, Raebareli from 2nd August, 2011. Candidates will be required to produce following documents in original at the time of interview:
(i) Proof of Date of Birth ( such as 10th Class certificate )
(ii) 10+2 Mark sheet
(iii) Caste Certificate for SC/ST/OBC Candidates
(iv) A Certificate that the OBC Candidate does not belong to Creamy layer.
SC/ST candidates will be reimbursed 2nd Class to and fro rail fare on production of tickets from their registered address to Raebareli to appear for Pilot Aptitude Test / Interview. A total 125 candidates shall be selected for training as per merit list.  They shall be inducted in batches every three months starting   September, 2011.   
Selected candidates will have to submit Class-I Medical Fitness Certificate before joining. List of Centers for Class-I medical is available at DGCA Website www.dgca.nic.in/medical/c1exam-ind.htm The Training fee is Rs.24.6 Lakhs, payable in four installments. The fee is likely to be revised.
Hostel accommodation within the campus on twin sharing basis (Separate for Boys & Girls) and Messing is provided on monthly charges of Rs. 7000/-, approximately.
Candidates can also opt for B.Sc. (Aviation) Degree from Chatrapati Sahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur, which shall be conducted alongside CPL Course subject to completion of the prescribed syllabus on aviation subjects, flying and project work. Duration of this course will be 3 years.

NDA and NA Exam(II) on Aug 21

Union Public Service Commission will conduct  NDA and NA examination on 21 August 2011 for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA and Naval Academy for the Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) commencing from June 2012 . The candidates joining Indian Naval Academy would undergo 4 years B Tech Course and would also be given an opportunity to join Technical Branch of the Navy subject to availability of vacancies.
CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY:-----------------------------------------
(a) Nationality : A candidate must either be :
(i) a citizen of India, or
(ii) a subject of Bhutan, or
(iii) a subject of Nepal, or
(iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
(b) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status : "Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July 1993 and not later than 1st January, 1996 are eligible". 
(c) Educational Qualifications :(i) For Army wing of National Defence Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course at the Naval Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equilvalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2  pattern of School Education or equivalent exmination can also apply for this examination.
(d) Physical Standards :Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2010 as per guidelines given in Appendix-V.

Professional Courses of AWES

Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) has notified the dates for the Written Admission Test (WAT) for admission to the various Programmes in the Institutions under it, for 2011-12. The Programmes include B.Ed, BDS, MDS, B.Sc Nursing, MBBS, Bachelor of Hotel Management, PG Diploma in Fashion Design, PG Diploma in Apparel Merchandising & Logistics Management, B.Sc (Fashion and Apparel Design).

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS: In order to apply for admission, the applicant must fall into one of the following categories:
(a) Wards of serving Army personnel with minimum 10 years continuous service in the Army
(b) Wards of ex Army personnel granted/ awarded regular pension, liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board/ invalided medical board. This includes wards of recruits medically boarded out and granted disability pension
(c) Wards of ex Army personnel who have taken discharge/release after ten years of service
(d) Adopted /Step Children and Children of Remarried Widows: (i) Adopted Child of Army personnel who completed 10 years service, adopted at least five years prior to seeking admission. (ii) Step Children are eligible provided they are born out of a wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Army and completed 10 years service. (iii) Children of Widows of Army personnel who are born as a result of second marriage with Army personnel. However, children of widows of Army personnel born out of remarriage with Non-Army personnel would not be eligible for admission.
(e) Eligibility Criteria in Special Cases: Eligibility Criteria for Wards of Ex Army Medical Corps Officers/Army Dental Corps Officers Presently Serving with IN/IAF. Wards of only those ex Army medical officers /Army Dental Corps officers, presently serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force who have served with the Army for 10 years, are eligible.
(f) Eligibility Criteria for Children of APS Personnel: (i) Children of APS personnel classified as Ex-servicemen as per Govt of India, Ministry of Defence letter No 9 (52)/88/D(Res) dated 19th July, 89. (ii) Children of those APS personnel who are on deputation and who have put in 10 years of service in the Army. (iii) Children of APS personnel, who are directly recruited into APS who have competed 10 years of service and of those who as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS without reversion to P&T Department after completing their minimum pensionable service of which 10 years was in the Army.
(7) Eligibility Criteria for Children of MNS/TA Personnel: (i) Children of only those members of MNS who have 10 years service as regular Army MNS Officer or are in receipt of pension from the Army (ii)Children of only those TA personnel who have completed 10 years of embodied service.

General Guidelines: To obtain Prospectus & Application Form, Bank Draft for the specified amount may be taken in favour of concerned Institution, payable at station where institution is located and sent directly to the Institution. Application form can also be downloaded from website of the institute. Prospectus also available at HQ AWES and HQs Command (AWES Cell) through DD only, in favour of institute concerned. Filled Application can be submitted only by Hand or by Post.
Final year candidates may appear provisionally. Sale of Application has commenced. Last Date of Receipt of filled Application is 15th March, 2011. It is 30th March, 2011, with late fee.
For ACDS PG, the last date is 15th February, 2011 without late fee and 20th February, 2011 with late fee. Last date for AIFD PG is 15th May, 2011. It will be accepted till 31st May 2011 with late fee.
However, AIT Application Form will be open for sale from 10th February 2011 to 15th May 2011. Last date for submission of completed AIT Application Form is 15th May 2011. After that AIT forms can be submitted along with a late fee of Rs 500/- till 25th May 2011.

UGC - NET Exam-2011 on 26th June

The National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) will conduct National Eligibility Test (NET) of June 2011 session on 26-06-2011 for determining the eligibility for lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals in order to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in the teaching profession and research.  The NET is conducted in 78 (seventy eight including ‘Bodo’ as a new subject) subjects at 74 (Seventy four) selected University Centres spread across the country.

Conditions of Eligibility:

i)  Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities / institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Physically Handicapped (PH) / Visually Handicapped (VH) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.
 
ii)  Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of JRF / Lectureship eligibility only after they have passed their Master’s degree examination or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC / ST / PH / VH category candidates). Such candidates must complete their P.G. degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.
   
iii)  The PhD degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.

Age Limit & Relaxation:     
i) Junior Research Fellowship: Not more than 28 years as on 01.06.2011. A relaxation upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC / PH / VH categories and to women applicants. Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant / related subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from appropriate authority. Three years’ relaxation in age will be permissible to the candidates possessing LLM Degree. Total age relaxation on the above ground(s) shall not exceed five years under any circumstances.

ii) Lectureship: There is no upper age limit for applying for lectureship eligibility.

Application:
1) Candidate seeking admission to the Test must apply online through
www.ugcnetonline.in  OR through a link available on the website: www.ugc.ac.in .
2) Before applying Online, the candidates must possess the following : (i) Scanned passport  (pp) size photograph in JPEG format should be less than 300kb, (ii) Copy of Bank Challan (fee receipt)
3) The candidates are required to download the Bank Challan Performa from the website:
www.ugcnetonline.in  OR take photocopy from the UGC-NET Notification published in the Employment News and then deposit the requisite test fee in any branch of State Bank of India along with the bank charges (commission) of Rs.20/-.
4) After successful submission, the candidate should take printout of online Application Form (two copies), Attendance Slip (one copy) and Admission Card (one copy) on separate A-4 size papers.

Eligibility for IISER PhD Admission 2011 :
  1. Masters degree in Biological / Chemical / Physical / Mathematical / Allied Medical Sciences or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Medicine. 60% marks or equivalent is desirable.
    1. Qualifying in one of the following national level tests with validity as on 1st of August 2011 : CSIR UGC JRF / DBT JRF / GATE / ICMR JRF.
    2. The Second requirement ( qualifying in a National Test ) is waived for applicants interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution.
    3. Candidates in the final year of the Masters degree in the above fields and qualify in the national level examinations are strongly encouraged to apply.
  2. IISER PhD 2011 Selection procedure :
    1. All shortlisted candidates are required to appear for a IISER Written Aptitude Test. For candidates whose Research interests are in the area of Ecology and Evolution, a Written Aptitude Test in this subject area is mandatory. Candidates interested in any other area of Biological Sciences, must take a IISER Written Aptitude Test consisting of reasoning problems in Science and Mathematics.
    2. Candidates can appear for only one of these IISER Written Aptitude Test 2011.
    3. Only candidates who qualify the IISER Written Aptitude Test will appear for an IISER Interview.

    • Biochemistry, Ecology and Evolution, Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic Cell Biology, Genetics and Genomics, Microbiology, Plant Biology, Structural Biology.
    Relaxation of IISER PhD Eligibility Criteria for SC / ST candidates will be made according to the Government of India rules.
    All students admitted to the IISER PhD Program receive fellowships either from national fellowships like CSIR UGC JRF / DBT JRF / ICMR JRF / NBHM or from IISERTVM.
