All India Med PG Entrance on Jan 8th

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences will conduct a competitive entrance examination on 8th January 2012 on all-India basis for admission to 50% of the total number of Ministry of Health & FW/MCI/DCI /recognized/ approved/permitted seats of Government Medical/ Dental Colleges for various postgraduate courses (MD/MS/Diploma and MDS).
(I) MD/MS/PG DIPLOMA COURSES : Duration of the courses: MD/MS: Three years from the date of admission. Candidates are eligible for admission after completion of compulsory rotating internship.
Diploma: Two years from the date of admission after completion of compulsory rotating internship.
SCHEME OF ENTRANCE EXAM-ALL INDIA QUOTA & PARTICIPATING STATES
The scheme for selection of candidates for admission to postgraduate medical courses for admission to 50% of total seats on all-India basis shall be applicable to all Medical/Dental Colleges/Institutions throughout the country and no Medical/Dental College/Institution shall hereafter conduct competitive entrance examination of its own for these seats on all-India basis, except the States of Jammu & Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh which have been excluded by the Supreme Court from the purview of their judgments’ in this regard.
Therefore, the students having passed their MBBS examination from any Institution in these two States shall not be eligible to participate in the All-India Competitive Entrance Examination for selection of candidates against these seats. However, the candidates who were nominated by the Government of India to do MBBS from Medical Colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir shall be eligible to apply for admission, subject to submission of a bond on a Non-Judicial Stamp Paper of Rs. 10/- to this effect. A copy of
the nomination letter must be attached with the bond.
ACTUAL NUMBER OF SEATS : The number of seats available for the year 2012 has not been communicated by all the colleges covered under the Scheme till the time of this Online Prospectus. The number of seats available in different colleges, with their subject-wise break-up, shall be displayed at the venue of Personal Appearance and on web-site (www.mohfw.nic.in) during the period of counseling by the Directorate General of Health Services. Stipends may vary from State to State and from Institution to Institution. Some seats may be non-stipendiary.
MD/MS/PG DIPLOMA COURSES : The allotment of centre/city will be done by AIIMS and will be final and binding. This may not necessarily be that of candidate's preference. The centre once allotted shall not be changed.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA : (a) The candidate must be an Indian National. (b) A candidate, who holds M.B.B.S. degree from a recognized medical college or a foreign medical degree included in the Schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and who has obtained full registration either from the Medical Council of India or any of the State Medical Councils after completing compulsory rotating internship shall be eligible to take this examination. (c) The candidates who have obtained their MBBS degree from the Medical Colleges which are not recognized by Medical Council of India shall not be eligible. (d) However, a andidate who, after passing the final qualifying examination (MBBS or the foreign medical degree recognized by MCI), is undergoing 12-month compulsory rotating internship/practical training and is likely to complete the same by 31st March, 2012 can take up this examination, but he/she shall not be eligible for admission unless he/she has completed the compulsory rotating internship and obtained full registration on or before 31st March, 2012 or the candidate produces a certificate from the head of Institution that he/she will be completing internship by 31st March, 2012. (e) No condonation of Compulsory Rotating Internship shall be accepted. (f ) The dates indicated by candidates with regard to12 months Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship i.e. starting date, completion date, shall be treated as final and candidates will be required to submit the original Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship completion certificate at the time of counseling. (g) The cut off dates for the recognition of the Medical Colleges and Dental Colleges, from where the candidates have passed their MBBS/BDS Degree Course and completed compulsory rotatory Internship for the year 2012 will be 31st October, 2011. The Colleges recognized after this date will not considered. (h) Registration with M.C.I./D.C.I./State Medical Council/State Dental Council is necessary and its documentary proof should be furnished at the time of counseling. (i) Some of the Universities are having regulations that candidates who are already pursuing the PG Course in their University or in another University are not eligible for admission till they complete the course. The candidate who are already pursuing PG Courses either through All India Quota or State Quota and are applying for a seat under All India Quota may confirm the eligibility conditions of that University in this regard.
ONLINE REGN & SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM : After selecting the online registration fill in the details asked for step by step. Deposit the prescribed fee in the designated Bank through a Challan. It will be the responsibility of the candidates to ensure that correct address in the Application Form is filled. Incomplete Application/Registration Slip will be rejected and no communication in this regard will be entertained. The Institute will not be responsible for any loss in transit or for incorrect address given by the applicant in the application form. No candidates should register more than one application.
STATUS OF REGISTRATION SLIPS RECEIVED : Acknowledgement with regard to successful Online Registration will be forwarded to applicants through SMS. However, the status of Admit Card will be available on AIIMS web sites www.aiims.ac.in and www.aiims.edu as well as www.aiimsexams.org after 28.12.2011. Candidates are advised to check position regarding status of Application form on the website www.aiimsexams.org If the status of a candidate’s Admit Card is not available on website, he/she should immediately write to the Assistant Controller of Examinations, AIIMS, New Delhi- 110608 along with full particulars of the Registration of application form.
METHOD OF SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION :  A candidate seeking admission to the Entrance Examination is required to fill up online application as specified in the prospectus. The online application/examination fee is payable through bank challan and is non-refundable and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.The candidate should fill in the online application form as per the detailed instructions given in the Prospectus .
The candidate is required to go through the Prospectus carefully and acquaint himself/ herself with all requirements regarding filling in the application form. Discrepancy, if any, in the date and time of the entrance examination mentioned in the Prospectus, Admit Card etc. should be immediately brought to the notice of the Assistant Controller of Examination, AIIMS. Complaints received after the examination will not be entertained. In case any discrepancy is found in the information provided in the various documents, the data provided on the Application will be considered as final for all purposes.
Application form/Registration Slip complete in all respects should be submitted online and NOT to be sent to Assistant Controller of Examinations, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi-110 608.
The candidates in employment may send their applications/registration slip directly to AIIMS. However, they must inform their employer about applying for this examination and further, in the event any communication from his/her Institution/Department with holding permission to his/her appearing in the above Entrance Examination/admission to the course his/her candidature/ admission may be cancelled. Since allotments of seats are made through personal appearance, candidates are not required to give their choice of subject and college at the time of submission of application form.
Candidate must not obtain or give or attempt to obtain or give irregular assistance of any kind during the examination; this will entail expulsion and cancellation of candidature for the examination. The rules are subject to change in accordance with the decision of the Dte.G.H.S., Ministry of Health.
ADMIT CARDS : A downloadable Admit Card will be hosted for all the eligible candidates on website www.aiimsexams.org w.e.f. 28th December, 2011. All the candidates must take a printout of the same. The admit card will not be sent through Postal System. No candidate will be admitted to the examination unless he/she holds a valid Admit Card issued by the AIIMS. No candidate will be allowed to enter the Examination Hall/Venue of allotment of seats by personal appearance without valid Admit Card in original. Candidates are advised to preserve the Admit Card till allotment of seat in college/ Institute. Duplicate Admit Card will not be issued after the examination.
SCHEME OF EXAMINATION :  There will be one paper of 3½ hours duration containing 300 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) consisting of Pre-Clinical, Para-Clinical and Clinical subjects.  The questions will be single response objective type. Each answer with correct response shall be awarded four marks. One mark will be deducted for each wrong response. Zero mark will be given for the questions not answered. More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be negatively marked.  The examination will be conducted in English medium only.
The tentative number of questions from each subject will be as given below:
Anatomy (15), Physiology (15), Biochemistry (15), Pharmacology (20), Pathology (25), Microbiology (20), Forensic Medicine (10) Social and Preventive Medicine (25), Medicine Dermatology and Venerelogy (37), Surgery, ENT, Orthopedics & Anesthesia (46), Pediatrics (15), Obstetrics and Gynecology (20), Radiodiagonosis and Radiotherapy (12), Biophysics (5), Ophthalmology (10), Psychiatry (10).
DECLARATION OF RESULTS : The result of successful candidates with their rank numbers is expected to be declared by the 15th Feb., 2012 and will be displayed on the notice board of Examination Section, AIIMS. It will be available on the internet at www. aiimsexams.org It will also be published in prominent newspapers of the country. The candidates who figure in the merit are required to download the Rank Letter from website www.aiimsexams.org as the rank letter will not be sent through postal service.
A downloadable Rank Letter will be hosted on website www.aiimsexaminations.org only two days before the commencement of counseling. It will be the responsibility of candidate to download the rank letter before the counseling. The Institute will not intimate the individual unsuccessful candidates regarding the result of entrance test and no correspondence on this subject will be entertained. However, the marks of individual candidate will be available on AIIMS website on completion of the admission process. There is no provision for rechecking/re-evaluation of the answer sheets and no query in this regard will be entertained.
MERIT LIST : The merit list will consist of number of candidates equal to number of seats available for allotment. Candidates securing less than 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST/OBC and 45% in case of PH candidates) in the Entrance Examination will not be considered for admission and their names will not be included in the merit list.
A waiting list containing 40 percent of the merit list will also be declared from amongst the successful candidates who have secured not less than 50 percent marks in the competitive examination (40% in case of SC/ST/OBC and 45% in case of PH candidates) As per the directions of the Supreme Court dated 31.1.2007 in Writ Petition (Civil) No(s) 138 of 2006 (Abhay Nath & Ors. Vs University of Delhi & Ors.)
There is 15% reservation for SC candidates and 7.5% for ST candidates from the Academic year 2007 onwards in 50%. All India PG Quota Seats. In Pursuance of the Supreme Court Order dated 10.04.2008 and according to detailed instructions of the Ministry of Human Resource Development vide their O.M. No.1-1/2005 -UI A/847 dated 20th April, 2008 Ministry of Health & FW has decided to implement OBC reservation in All India Quota in phased manner on the pro-rata basis in respect of seats being contributed to the All India Quota by the Central Education Institutions only from the academic year 2009.
There is 3% horizontal reservation for Physically Challenged persons also (only for locomotory disabilities of lower limbs between 50% to 70% Provided that in case any seat in this 3% quota remains unfilled on account of unavailability of candidates with locomotory disability of lower limbs between 50% to 70% then any such unfilled seat in this 3% quota shall be filled up by persons with locomotory disability of lower limbs between 40% to 50% before they are included in the seats of respective category) in 50% All India PG Quota seats.

In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks in the competitive entrance examination, their inter se merit will be determined in order of preference as under: (i) Candidate scoring less negative marks. (ii) According to age, older will get preference over younger.
The number of seats for allotment, as intimated by respective college/Institute, shall be displayed at the counselling venues and will be updated on day to day basis. Information in this regard may also be available on Ministry of Health & F.W.'s website www.mohfw.nic.in.
COUNSELLING VENUES :  From the year 2009 Directorate General of Health Services has decided to hold muti-city counselling by personal appearance through Video-conferencing tentatively from the following centres with the main counselling venue at CHEB Building, opposite Mata Sundri College for Woman, Kotla Road (Near ITO), New Delhi.
1. AII India Institute of Hygine & Public Health, 110, C.R. Avenue, Kolkata, West Bengal.
2. National Institute of Sidha, Tambraram Santorium, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
3. All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Haji Ali, K. Khadye Marg, Mahalaxmi, Mumbai.
Therefore, candidates are requested to indicate their counselling venue at the appropriate place of the application form. Counselling will be strictly done at the venue as opted by the candidate in his/her application form. No change in the venue of counselling will be allowed under any circumstances.
MDS COURSES : The general principles as enunciated for postgraduate medical courses (MD/MS) in Part (I) shall mutatis mutandis apply for the competitive entrance examination for admission to postgraduate dental courses (MDS).
DURATION OF THE COURSE : 2 years
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA : (a) The candidate must be an Indian National.
(b) A candidate who holds BDS degree from a Dental College recognised by the Dental Council of India and who has obtained full registration either from the Dental Council of India or any of the State Dental Councils after passing the final BDS examination and has completed one year (12 months) Compulsory Rotating Internship in an pproved/recognised Dental College shall be eligible.
(c) The condition of one year Compulsory Rotating Internship is not applicable to those candidate who had passed their final BDS Examination on or before 1988 and hold a BDS Degree from a Dental College recognised by the Dental Council of India and have obtained full registration from Dental Council of India.
(d) No condonation of Internship of 12 months period shall be accepted.
COMPETITIVE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION : The syllabus for the competitive entrance examination for admission to the MDS courses shall be that of BDS standard and shall cover all the subjects taught during the BDS course. There will be only one paper of 3 hours duration (10.00 A.M. to 01.00 P.M.) containing 200 MCQs. The approximate distribution is as under :
General and Oral Human Anatomy, General Human Physiology and Biochemistry, Dental Material, General and Oral Pathology and Microbiology, General and Dental Pharmacoloy 100 MCQs and Therapeutics, General Medicine, General Surgery, Preventive and Community Medicine Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, Conservative Dentistry including Endodontics, Pedodontics, Oral Surgery, Periodontics, Orthodontics, Oral Medicine (Oral Diagnosis) 100 MCQs and Radiology.
This Scheme shall be applicable to the dental colleges also.  These dental colleges shall not hereafter conduct competitive entrance examination of their own for these MDS seats on All-India basis.

Candidates who have passed MBBS or equivalent examination from a foreign country can select foreign college option and fill up the name of College in the filled provided. Select the state in which Institution is situated and then select the name of college/institute. Applicant should indicate the name of University/Institution from which he/she has passed the qualifying examination.
If College Name is not in the List : Then select “Other” Option. Then write name of College in corresponding field.
What to do: If the candidate has passed MBBS from a college located in India but name of the college is not included in the list of recognized Medical Colleges as provided by the ME(P-II) SECTION Ministry of Health and Family Welfare such candidates are required to contact Asstt. Controller (Exams.), AIIMS, New Delhi alongwith a copy of Gazette Notification issued by the Government of India, clarification given by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare or court order, if any.
The Directorate General of Health Services is in process of obtaining permission from the Supreme Court for holding online counseling. In case the Supreme Court permits conduct of online counseling the details of same shall be provided by Directorate General of Health Services on Ministry of Health & Family Welfare’s website.
*The result will be displayed on the Notice Board of Examination Section, AIIMS and published in prominent newspapers. Result will also be available on the internet at www.aiims.ac.in, www.aiims.edu and www.aiimsexams.org.
