Central Sector Scholarship


CENTRAL SECTOR SCHOLARSHIP FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES: 2011-12
INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS
1. Rate of Scholarship
a.  Under Graduate Students: Rs.1000/- per month for (Subject to a Maximum of
Rs. 10,000/- for an academic year) and Rs. 2000/- per month for Post-Graduate
studies (Subject to a Maximum of Rs. 20,000/- for an academic year), provided
they are selected for Scholarship at UG level.
b.  Professional Courses: Rs.1000/- per month for the first three years (Subject to a
Maximum of Rs. 10,000/- for an academic year) and Rs. 2000/- per month for
the 4th and 5th years of study (Subject to a maximum of Rs. 20,000/- for an
academic year).
2. Eligibility Conditions
a.  Applicant should have scored a minimum of 80% of marks in the +2/VHSC
Examinations, March 2011 conducted by the Board of  Higher Secondary
Education / Board of Vocational Higher Secondary Education, Government of
Kerala.
b.  Applicant should be pursuing any Regular Course at Under-Graduate Degree level
in any recognised Educational Institution, including Professional Courses such as
Medical, Engineering etc. Students pursuing Parallel/ Private Registration/
Correspondence/ Distance Education courses are not  eligible to apply for this
scholarship.
c.  Parental income (Both Father and Mother) should not exceed Rs. 4 ½ lakhs per
annum for the financial year ending March 2011.
d.  Applicant should not be availing any other scholarships/ Financial Assistance.
3. Other Relevant Information.
a.  Candidate should have a Saving Bank account in State Bank of Travancore
(SBT)/ State Bank of India (SBI) / Federal Bank/ South Indian Bank in her/his
name. The candidate should be in possession of the Bank account Number and
the Branch Code.
b.  Candidate should verify that his/ her name is in the  Selection List. Only those
students whose names are listed in the Selection list can apply for this scholarship

GMP at XLRI, Jamshedpur

Applications have been invited by XLRI, Jamshedpur for admission to General Management Programme (GMP) of Academic Session 2012

Eligibility:
Candidates applying for One Year General Management Programme must:

  • Hold a minimum of three years Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University in India/abroad in any discipline.

Application Process:

Central Sector Scholarship : Apply by Oct 31


The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Shiksha Kendra, 2, Community Centre, Preet Vihar, Delhi-110092, has invited applications for the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University students’ for 2011
Applicant should be an Indian National and should have passed the Senior School Certificate Examination 2011 conducted by CBSE and should have secured the minimum prescribed total aggregate marks, in the first five subjects, depending on the stream opted by the applicant for the Senior School Certificate Examination 2011.
The prescribed minimum total aggregate marks in first five subjects for all categories (SC/ST/OBC/UR) to be eligible to apply for the Scholarship is 408 out of 500 for Science, 380 out of 500 for Commerce and 334 out of 500 for others.
The applicant should be pursuing higher studies and should have taken admission in an Under Graduate regular course (not correspondence or distance mode) in a recognized Educational Institution in India. The applicant should not be availing any other scholarship and the total annual Income of parents of the applicant from all sources should not exceed Rs 4.5 lakh per annum. The applicant should not belong to creamy layer as defined by DoP&T from time to time (Govt. of India, Dept. of Per. & Trg., OM No. 36033/S/2004-Estt. (Res.), dated 14-10-2004). This condition is applicable to all categories of applicants both ‘General’ and ‘Reserved’.
Those selected for the Scholarship and undergoing Graduation will get am amount of Rs.1000/- per month, to be disbursed as lump sum amount of Rs.10,000/- at end of academic year, for three years. For Professional course, the candidates will get Rs.2000/- per month during the 4th and 5th year of Professional Courses. For Post Graduation (Other than that of the Professional courses), the amount will be Rs 2000/- per month for two years after Graduation which is to be disbursed as  a lump sum amount of Rs.20,000/- at end of academic year. 
Number of scholarships will be distributed amongst pass out of the Science, Commerce and Humanities in ratio of 3:2:1. Reservation to SC, ST, OBC and PH will be as per guidelines of the Govt of India.
The Scholarship amount will be sent only to the Bank Account of the selected candidate, by ECS (Electronic Clearing System) mode.  So, applicants have to open a Bank Account in his/her name in a branch of any Scheduled Nationalized/Commercial Bank which has ECS facility.  Applicants should give their Bank Account number, Bank Name and detailed address of the Bank and the correct RTGS/NEFT branch code of the Bank. No request for sending the amount of scholarship by Draft or in the account of parents or joint account will be entertained.
Renewal of Scholarship: For renewal of Scholarship, applicant has to apply on separate renewal form. Applicant should have passed in all the subjects in semester/annual examinations with not less than 60 % marks in the aggregate of 2 semester or annual examinations and should have maintained 75 % attendance, good discipline and should not have involved in ragging activities etc.
Scholarship once cancelled will not be revived under any circumstances.
Applications: Eligible students should first obtain the Bank Details of their Account, RTGS/NEFT branch code of the bank from the Bank Manager and then fill the application form of Scholarship online athttp://www.cbserod.net.in/scholarship/menu.aspx
On submitting the details, application form and joining report will be generated online and the same has to be printed on A4 size paper. The applicant should then get the Joining report verified from the Head of the Institution from where course is being pursued. Income affidavit has to be obtained on a non-judicial stamp paper of Rs.10/- duly sworn in before Notary Public/First class Executive Magistrate/Revenue Officer.
The following documents are to be attached to the duly signed online generated Application Form
(i) Joining report Attested by Head of Institution/Report
(ii) Copy of Mark sheet of Senior School Certificate Exam-2011 with the online registration no written on the top of it
(iii) Copy of Caste Certificate, if applicable. Write online registration no. on its top

Students may keep a photocopy of complete application form with them for future reference. Applications without the specified documents will be rejected summarily and no correspondence will be made/ entertained in this regard. Those students who have passed Class- XII Exam from CBSE prior to 2011 need not apply.
Only online application forms will be accepted. Forms of previous year or website printouts without bearing online Registration No. will be rejected. The application in respect of the candidates who have filled in the details online but have not submitted the signed forms along with Joining report and Income affidavit before due date will be rejected.
Mere submission of the application form/fulfilling the eligibility criteria will not entitle the applicant for the award of Scholarship. Scholarships will be distributed among various streams and various categories on merit as per criteria advised by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India.
Applicant is entitled to receive only one scholarship at a time. If the applicant is in receipt of any scholarship from any other scheme he/she has to refund that scholarship, failing which action will be taken as per rules. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya admission


Admissions in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are made through the JAWAHAR NAVODAYA SELECTION TEST (JNVST) at Class VI. The medium of instruction in JNVs is the mother tongue or regional language up to Class VIII and English thereafter for Maths and Science and Hindi for Social Science. Students of the JNVs appear for X and XII class examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education. While education in the schools is free including boarding, lodging, uniforms and textbooks, a nominal fee of Rs.200/- per month will have to be paid by the children from IX to XII class. However, children belonging to SC/ST, Girls and Physically Handicapped and from the families whose income is below poverty line are exempted from payment of fees.
A maximum of eighty students are admitted in Class VI in each Vidyalaya, through a Selection Test subject to availability of suitable candidates. The Samiti reserves the right to reduce the seats to forty or to withhold result and/or withhold admission and/or conduct of JNVST in case adequate accommodation is not available. HOW TO APPLY FOR JNV SELECTION TEST
A. How to get an Application Form?
Application forms for admission may be made on the prescribed Application Form (attached with the prospectus) available free of cost from:
(i) Block Education Officer (BEO)
(ii) District Education Officer (DEO)
(iii) Headmaster of any Govt. / Govt. aided / Recognized Accredited Institute / Centre of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan / NIOS where he/she is studying.
(iv) Principal, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.
In case of non-availability of JNVST prescribed Application Form from the above, you may copy the format of Application Form on plain paper (preferably 21cm x 30cm) from our website at the addresshttp://www.navodaya.nic.in or the newspaper advertisement and apply on it.
B. How to submit an Application Form?
Duly filled in application form must reach the Block Education Officer latest by 31st  October 2011.  It shall be signed by the Head of the recognized school/Special Education Scheme (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) where the child is studying in Class-V, on or before 31st October 2011 (Candidates are advised to get the acknowledgement from the BEO at the time of submission of Application Form).
C. Issue of Admit Cards
Admit Cards, duly prepared by the Principal, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya will be issued to the candidates through the office of the Block Education Officer. Candidates, who do not receive their Admit cards one week before the JNVST, they should immediately contact to Principal, JNV/BEO/DEO for the same.
D. Result of the Selection Test
The result of JNVST 2012 is expected to be announced by end of May of the year of admission. The result will be displayed in the offices of the concerned (i) Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (ii) District Education Officer (iii) District Magistrate (iv) Deputy Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti of the Region. The Principal, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya concerned, will also inform the selected candidates through registered post. WHO IS ELIGIBLE
For All Candidates :
A. Only the candidates from the district concerned where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has been opened are eligible to apply for admission. However, the district where JNV is opened and is bifurcated at a later date, the old boundaries of the district are considered for the purpose of eligibility for admission into JNVST, in case a new Vidyalaya has not started in newly bifurcated district as yet.
B. A candidate seeking admission must not have been born before 01-05-1999 and after 30-04-2003. This will apply to candidates of all categories, including those who belong to the Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs). In case of doubt of overage candidate seeking admission, they may be referred to the Medical Board for confirmation of the age. The decision of the Medical Board will be final.
C. A candidate appearing for the selection test must be studying in Class-V for the whole of the academic session 2011-12 in a Government/Government aided or other recognized schools or schools under schemes of “Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan” or ‘B’ certificate competency course of National Institute of Open Schooling in the same district where he/she is seeking admission. A school will be deemed recognized if it is declared so by the Government or by any other agency authorized on behalf of Government. The Schools under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan are to be sponsored by Govt. or Govt. authorized agencies. Schools where students have obtained ‘B’ certificate under National Institute of Open Schooling should have accreditation of NIOS.  A candidate must successfully complete Class-V in the session 2011-12.  Actual admission in Class-VI for the session 2012-13 will be subject to this condition.
D. A Candidate claiming admission under rural quota must have studied and passed classes III, IV and V from a Govt. / Govt. aided / recognized school spending one full academic session each year in a school located in rural area.
E. Candidates who will be passing Class-V from schemes of “Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan” or ‘B’ certificate competency course of National Institute of Open Schooling on or before 30th September, 2012 are also eligible to write admission test provided they are in the prescribed age group. The forms of such candidates will be verified by DEO/DIOS. The rural status of a child from Accredited Centres/Institute of Sarva Shiksha Abiyan/National Institute of Open Schooling will be decided on the basis of a certificate to be issued by Tehsildar/District Magistrate of the District indicating that the child has been residing in rural areas for the last three years. Students studying under the above scheme from urban and notified areas are not eligible for obtaining seat in rural quota.
F. A Candidate who has not been promoted and admitted to Class-V   before    30thSeptember, 2011 is not eligible to apply.
G. No candidate is eligible to appear in the selection test second time, under any   circumstances.
The parents of the children who qualify the Selection Test will have to submit following at the time of admission:
i) Affidavit/Residence Certificate in prescribed proforma in addition to other documents demanded by the concerned Vidyalaya.
ii) For candidates seeking admission under rural quota, the parents will also have to submit an affidavit to the effect that the child is studying in an Institute located in a notified rural area and that they are residing in a notified rural area.
For Rural Candidates
A) At least 75% of the seats in a district will be filled by candidates selected from rural areas and remaining seats will be filled from the urban areas of the district.
B) A candidate seeking admission under the rural quota must have studied in Classes-III, IV and V completing full academic session from the recognized school(s) located in rural areas.
C) Candidates studying under the schemes of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and National Institute of Open Schooling should produce their rural status certificate issued by District Magistrate/ Tehsildar/Block Development Officer.
For Urban Candidates
A Candidate who has studied in a school located in an urban area even for a single day of session in Class-III, IV and V will be considered as an urban candidate. Urban areas are those which are so defined in 2001 census or through a subsequent Government Notification. All other areas will be considered as rural.
Reservation of Seats
a) At least 75% of the seats in a district are filled by candidates selected from rural areas and remaining seats are filled from urban areas of the district.

b) Reservation of seats in favour of children belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes is provided in proportion to their population in the concerned district provided that no district, such reservation will be less than the national average (15% for SC and 7.5% for ST) but subject to maximum of 50% for both the categories (SC & ST) taken together.  These reservations are interchangeable and over and above the candidates selected under open merit.
c) One third of the total seats are filled up by girls.

Candidates who have qualified for the MBBS Degree of the Madras University or any other University recognised as equivalent by the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and the Indian Medical Council and have completed their compulsory rotating residential internship and obtained full registration before 15/05/2012 are eligible to apply for the postgraduate diploma and degree courses.

Candidates who have qualified for a postgraduate diploma may also apply for the postgraduate degree (MS / MD) course in the same subject. Post Diploma candidates with a diploma in the same subject need to undergo 2 years of training for the degree.

Candidates currently pursuing a postgraduate training programme and who complete the same by the 15th of May 2012 only will be eligible to apply.

XAT on 8th January 2012


         The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT), an Admission Test conducted at All India level to select students for management education, organized by Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI), an association of like minded institutes,  co-ordinated by XLRI Jamshedpur, will be conducted on 8th January 2012 at Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Berhampur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Goa, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mehboobnagar(A.P), Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Surat, Trivandrum, Vadodara, Varanasi, Vijaywada, Visakhapatnam and at Colombo, Dhaka, Dubai, Kathmandu.

XAT is for admission to the Management Programes at the Xavier Labour and Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur, 16 core member institutes and more than 85 associate institutes located in different parts of the country. Registration for XAT 2012 and appearing for XAT 2012 are the preliminary steps towards applying to any of the associate institutes. Applicants to different institutes have to apply separately to each of the associate institutes of their choice.

Applicant should hold a Bachelors Degree under 10+2+3 system from a recognized University or a Deemed University. Those in the final year of their Degree course can also apply for admission to XLRI. However, they need to complete their final year examination by June 10, 2012. Such applicants may enter the aggregate percentage obtained in the previous years of the qualifying Degree, while filling the application. Other XAT Member Institutes may have different dates regarding the completion of the final examination which can be ascertained from the institutes concerned.  Registration for XAT 2012 can be done at http://www.xatonline.net.in/xlriapp.aspx 

When the details asked are provided, an e-mail is sent to the ID provided. Applicant will then have to login with the credentials sent in the email. On first login, applicant should change password when the ‘Change Password’ screen is shown. Applicant will have to enter the educational qualifications, city for test centre and work experience etc and then Upload scanned Photograph and Signature in the prescribed format and size. Subsequently, the mode of payment is to be selected. Payment of the Application fee can be made at one of the identified branches of Axis Bank or using Credit/Debit cards or using online banking. If payment is being made through Axis bank, the applicant should choose the ‘Bank Pay-in-Slip’ Mode of Payment and print the XAT Pay-in-Slip, using which, payment is to be made at any Axis Bank branch by remitting the XAT fee of Rs.900/-. Applicant should then Login to the XAT website again and update the profile with the unique no. provided by the bank on the Pay-in-Slip to validate the application.

A print of XAT Registration Confirmation Page-Cash Mode is to be taken, and the same completed in all respects and sent to XAT Office, XLRI, Circuit House Area (East), Jamshedpur-831001, within seven days of the payment along with the XAT’s copy of the Bank Pay-in- Slip.

Applicant may select the Mode of Payment as ‘Online Payment’ if the fee is being paid in the online mode or by using Credit/Debit card. Applicant will then be taken to the payment gateway of Axis Bank where the payment mode (Credit card/Debit/Online banking) has to be selected. The applicant should then make the Payment of XAT fee of Rs. 950/- along with the service charges applicable. After a successful transaction, the applicant will be redirected to the XAT Registration Confirmation Page-Online Payment Mode where transaction details are displayed. This has to be saved and a copy of the same printed. Applicant should then click on ‘Save & Continue’ to generate the XAT Registration Confirmation Page-Online Payment Mode. Applicant should then Sign at the place provided to authenticate the online payment. The candidate has to then send the XAT Registration Confirmation Page - Online Payment Mode to XAT Office, Jamshedpur through Courier/Registered Post/Speed Post in a suitable envelope. This should reach the XAT Office, XLRI, Circuit House Area (East), Jamshedpur-831001 within seven days from the date of payment.

XAT written test will have multiple components. The test will be of 2 ½ hours, from 10.30 am to 1 pm. The first part will be of 2 hours duration and will be of the multiple choice type which followed by an additional test which is of 20 minutes duration. The format of the additional test may range from an open-ended essay or a multiple-choice type. The objective Test of XAT 2011 had three sections `Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning (VA), `Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (QA) and `Analytical Reasoning and Decision Making Ability (AR). Registration for XAT 2012 ends on 30th November 2011. The last date for receiving XAT Confirmation Page is 5th December 2011.

Those interested in XLRI admissions can do the Registration for that at www.xlri.edu till 31st Dec 2011. Candidates can register for XLRI Programmes either by cash payment at any AXIS Bank branch or through the Online Payment mode. The XLRI prospectus would be sent to the address as given by the candidates at the time of XAT registration. The Programmes include Business Management, Human Resource Management, General Management and Fellow Programme in Management.

XLRI registration charges for General candidates is Rs 1000/- for Cash Mode (Rs. 1050/- for online mode) for one programme and Rs 1600/- for Cash Mode (Rs. 1650/- for online mode) for more than one and maximum of three programmes. For SC/ST candidates, it is Rs 700/- for Cash Mode (Rs. 750/- for online mode) for one programme and Rs 1200/- for Cash Mode (Rs. 1250/- for online mode) for more than one and maximum of three programmes. Candidate should submit the SC/ST certificate with the confirmation page to XLRI.

MAT on Dec 4, Apply now


The next Paper Based Management Aptitude Test, conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) for admission to the Management Programmes in Participating Institutions will be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm on December 4, 2011 (Sunday).

Computer Based Management Aptitude Test will be held from 10th December 2011 (Saturday) onwards in different time slots at specific test venues; subject to number of candidates registering for Computer Based Test.
Applicant should be a Graduate in any discipline. Final year students of Graduate Courses can also apply. Applications can be submitted by any one of the following modes.

(i) Application form with MAT Bulletin/CD can be obtained from selected branches of Bank of Baroda, Axis Bank, and listed Study Centres of AIMA against payment of Rs 1200 /- by cash.  Application Forms will be available for sale from above sale counter along with the details of the sale counters, candidate may start Online registration also upto 12 November 2011).

(ii) Obtain crossed Demand Draft (DD) of Rs 1200/- (One thousand two hundred only) in favour of 'All India Management Association' payable at Delhi from any Bank. Register online at website www.aima-ind.org/matdec11 alongwith the DD details. Detailed procedure is given on the website link.

(iii) Register online at website link www.aima-ind.org/matdec11 with Credit Card payment. Detailed procedure is given on the website link.
The last date for sale of forms and the last date for online registration is November 12, 2011. Last Date for submission of filled in Registration Forms/Online Registration Forms at AIMA, New Delhi is November 15, 2011. The Paper-Based Test will take place only on 4th December 2011 from 10 am to 12.30pm, whereas the Computer Based Test will take place from 10th December 2011 onwards in different time slots. If the number of candidates registered for Computer Based Test is limited and can be accommodated in a single day, the test will be completed on 10th December 2011 itself. If the number of candidates registered for Computer Based Test is few in a particular centre, these candidates will have to appear for the Paper-Based Test on 4th December 2011 only. One candidate can appear only for one date for the December 2011 MAT.
MAT will be an objective type test with multiple-choice answers. The test is designed to measure a person’s general aptitudes and will consist of 5 sections, namely, Language Comprehension; Mathematical Skills; Data Analysis and Sufficiency; Intelligence and Critical Reasoning and Indian and Global Environment, with 40 questions from each section.
All Forms received at AIMA will be scanned / validated within 3 days and the Form Numbers of such received forms will be available on website link: www.aima-ind.org/mat_receipt.aspx . Further, the form will be scrutinized and if found in order; it will be provisionally registered.
Admit Card
All provisionally registered candidates both for Paper Based and Computer Based Test can down load their Admit Card from AIMA website link: www.aima-ind.org/mat_centre.aspx 7 days before the Paper Based test date i.e., with effect from 26 November 2011 (Saturday). Specific Admit Card will be generated both for the candidates opted for the Paper Based Test and for the Computer Based Test.
Admit Card would be having Candidate Name, Form No, Roll NO, Test Date, Test Time and Test Venue Address. Candidate has to strictly follow the date and time allotted to them in the case of Computer Based Test.
Candidates applied for Computer Based Test and who have been permitted to appear for the Computer Based Test; have to down load the Admit Card 7 days before the Paper Based Test date  i.e., with effect from 26 November 2011 (Saturday) from AIMA website.
Candidates accessing the website the earliest can choose the Date and Time of his/her choice subject to availability. Those who have not opted the date and time slot for 4-5 days; will be automatically allotted date and time slot by the system. No request for change of date and time slot can be entertained. No separate Admit Card will be issued or dispatched.
